Unsure how to meet the needs of learners with dyslexic-type difficulties in your setting?
Do you want to find out more about approaches to assessment and teaching?
This twilight session will introduce the process of assessment and planning for a 1:1 teaching programme for a learner with dyslexic-type difficulties in your educational setting. You will learn how to use a range of informal, non-standardised assessments to assess the needs of the learner and to set targets for 1:1 teaching of individuals with dyslexic-type difficulties.
Content will include:
- How to complete reading assessment – single word reading, nonword reading, miscue analysis, reading comprehension
- How to complete writing assessment – spelling, text level free writing, handwriting
- Using assessment information to set targets
- Elements of lesson planning – use of resources, timing, and pacing
The course tutor has many years of experience in training specialist dyslexia teachers.
This course is suitable for individuals with experience of supporting learners with literacy difficulties.
