Detailed Description

This international study trip provides MSc Project Management students with a unique opportunity to enhance their academic learning through real-world exposure to global project environments. Developed with the support of the International Engagement Team, the Professional Business School, and Faculty Deans, the 15-day programme takes place in the Netherlands and Germany and is designed to integrate academic insight, industry practice, and experiential learning.

During the first week in the Netherlands, students will participate in structured visits including the Heineken Experience Tour, the EIC Mainport Rotterdam, and a Circular Economy and Sustainability walking tour, alongside organised cultural and social activities. The second week in Germany focuses on industrial operations, innovation, and historical context through visits such as the BMW Motorbike Factory, the Berlin TV Tower and VR Odyssey experience, and the Dutch Resistance Museum.

The programme cost includes transport from the University of Northampton to and from the UK airport, accommodation for 14 nights, daily breakfast, organised site visits, travel insurance, airport transfers in Amsterdam and Berlin, and coach hire for scheduled visits. Students will be responsible for additional personal expenses, including most meals, visa and local public transport.

Overall, the study trip aims to strengthen students’ understanding of international project environments, sustainability practices, logistics systems, and organisational operations, while enhancing employability, cultural awareness, and professional confidence in a global project management context.
