This study day, delivered by Julian Brown and Una Lodge, is for anyone working in schools who wishes to develop their knowledge and understanding of the nature of dyslexia and how to meet the needs of learners presenting with dyslexic difficulties in school.

This study day will provide you with an overview of how dyslexia is defined, particularly in schools, how this can impact on individuals,and strategies that could be used to informally assess and support children and young people. 

Content will include:

·     Definitions of dyslexia – you will explore the issues around the definition of dyslexia and the implication for individuals

·     Characteristics of dyslexia – we will consider how dyslexia can present in individuals of different ages

·     Support strategies for schools – We will share ideas for strategies and resources to support individuals across the school-age range.

By the end of this workshop, you will have a better understanding of what dyslexia is, how this impacts on individuals and what you can do about it when working with children and young people in schools.
