Embracing AI: Practical Advice for Getting Started & Active Learning & Inclusion in the Digital Age

Description

Embracing AI CPD Day - Saturday 29th June 2024 9:30am-3:30pm

·       Free, onsite university parking

·       Lunch provided

·       UON certification awarded upon completion

·     Discounts available on group bookings, please contact Jo Shaul: [email protected]

Aimed at all teaching staff within primary, secondary and higher education settings, this AI workshop offers an opportunity to explore the challenges and benefits associated with the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence (AI).  It provides a critical introduction to the principles and practises of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as understood in relation to Active Digital Education (ADE).

Participants will:

·       Develop AI literacy skills to respond to the teaching and learning challenges and promises posed by rapid developments (in particular tools that generate text and images in response to prompts).

·       Develop an understanding of Active Digital Education (ADE) to encourage online learning that is more active and engaging.

·      Develop an understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) which gives learners a choice in how knowledge is represented and produced, as we recognise everyone learns in different ways.

By the end of this workshop, you will have a sound understanding of AI concepts and terminology in the context of teaching and learning.  You will have gained hands on experience with AI tools that generate text and images in response to prompts, and you will therefore start to develop your own strategies for designing assessments that incorporate AI while demonstrating responsible and ethical AI use to your students.

Having explored some practical applications of the UDL and ADE approaches, you will be able to identify different learning approaches that enable learning to be participatory, inclusive and successful and compare overlaps between the UDL and ADE perspectives for learning.

Cancellations/refunds can be processed for this event up until 15th June 2024.  Email: [email protected]
