Aimed at teaching staff, early years practitioners, SENCO’s and childcare providers, this outdoor learning session will aim to develop skills, knowledge and confidence for using outdoor learning spaces.

The morning will address the ‘need to knows’ for safe working and involve practical activities that you can use with learners to develop fine and gross motor skills, confidence and explore the versatility of an outdoor space. In the afternoon we will discuss how an outdoor learning space can be used to support specific areas of the EYFS and national curriculums- for example, art, science and PE. This will be a practical day, largely taught outdoors, so you will need suitable weatherproof clothing and footwear. 

This course will develop your confidence and skills to take learning outdoors in a variety of contexts.  You will take away practical ideas around how to teach in outdoors spaces and enhance children’s learning and development opportunities in a range of outdoor environments.
